Product Overview
The Miele PWM 511 drain pump washer combines an 11 kg load capacity, flexible commercial programmes and high-spin extraction for busy organisations managing laundry on site.
The 100 litre honeycomb drum provides space for larger loads, including bedding, towels, sportswear and general workwear. A maximum spin speed of 1,100 rpm and 370 g-factor remove more moisture before drying, helping shorten the next stage of the laundry process.
Its DN 22 drain pump can discharge into a suitably positioned raised waste connection, making this version appropriate where low-level gravity drainage is unavailable. Sites processing mops, animal bedding, heavily contaminated laundry or items containing significant debris should normally consider the separate drain-valve model instead.
Suitable applications include Private Residences & Estates, Hotels & B&Bs, Sports Clubs, Schools, Colleges & Universities, Nurseries, Architects & Specifiers, Holiday Parks and Health & Fitness, as well as many others.

Features & Benefits
Professional wash performance, flexible programming and installation options designed for demanding on-site laundry operations.
Flexible commercial programmes
Programmable controls for varied textile requirements
Wash parameters can be adapted to help sites process bedding, towels, sportswear, workwear and other everyday commercial laundry consistently.
11 kg load capacity
100 litre drum with a 1:9 load ratio
The larger drum supports productive on-site laundry operation without moving to a substantially wider industrial washer.
Pumped drainage
DN 22 drain pump outlet
The machine can discharge into a suitable raised waste connection where a low-level gravity drain is not available.
Compact commercial footprint
704 mm wide with an 818 mm cabinet depth
The machine provides an 11 kg capacity while remaining suitable for many dedicated laundry rooms with restricted floor space.
High-spin extraction
Up to 1,100 rpm with a 370 g-factor
Efficient moisture removal can reduce the work required from the tumble dryer, supporting shorter drying times and lower drying costs.
Two electrical variants
230v 25 A or 400v 16 A supply options
The choice of single-phase and three-phase versions allows the machine to be matched more closely to the electrical services available on site.
Automatic load control
Water and programme parameters respond to load size
Automatic Load Control Plus helps avoid treating every load as a full-capacity wash, supporting more proportionate resource use.
Gentle textile care
Stainless steel Miele honeycomb drum
The sculpted drum surface creates a thin film of water to help laundry glide more gently through the wash process.
Flexible detergent dosing
Three-compartment drawer and up to six external pumps
Sites can use conventional powder or liquid products and add optional automatic chemical dosing where repeatable dosage control is required.
Professional construction
Tested by Miele for 30,000 operating hours
The controlled laboratory test supports its suitability for regular commercial use, although actual working life depends on usage, maintenance and care.
Clear touchscreen operation
Programmable M Touch Pro colour display
Multilingual instructions, programme colour coding, time-left display and delay start help operators use the correct programme consistently.
Connected laundry capability
Integrated WiFi and rear Ethernet connection
The washer can connect to compatible Miele digital solutions, including Miele MOVE where available and appropriately configured.

Choosing the right machine
Is the Miele PWM 511 drain pump washer the right model for me?
The PWM 511 DP is designed for organisations needing an 11 kg commercial washer with flexible programmes, high-spin extraction and pumped drainage into a conventional raised waste connection.
It is particularly suitable for Private Residences & Estates, Hotels & B&Bs, Sports Clubs, Schools, Colleges & Universities, Nurseries, Architects & Specifiers, Holiday Parks and Health & Fitness facilities.
What should I check before purchasing this machine?
Confirm that the machine capacity, drainage arrangement and available services are appropriate for the laundry operation before ordering.
Check the following points:
- Load capacity: Confirm that 11 kg is appropriate for the average load size and total daily laundry volume.
- Available space: Allow for the 1020 × 704 × 818 mm machine, door opening, hoses and service access.
- Electrical supply: Select either the 230v 25 A or 400v 16 A version to match the site supply.
- Waste position: Confirm that the drain pump can discharge into a suitable raised waste connection.
- Laundry type: Check that the machine will be processing conventional textiles without significant coarse debris.
- Drying capacity: Ensure that the tumble dryer or alternative drying process can manage the anticipated daily throughput.
The drain pump model should not normally be selected for mops, animal bedding or heavily contaminated laundry that may contain substantial debris. The separate PWM 511 drain-valve model will normally be more appropriate for those applications.
Services, drainage and cycle times
The PWM 511 DP requires suitable hot and cold water supplies, a dedicated electrical connection and a correctly positioned pumped waste connection.
Installation requirements include:
- 230v version: Material number 11961020 requires a 230v single-phase 25 A supply and has a 5.50 kW connected load.
- 400v version: Material number 11961050 requires a 400v three-phase 16 A supply and has an 8.20 kW connected load.
- Water supplies: Separate hot and cold water connections are provided.
- Drainage: The DN 22 drain pump must connect to a suitable raised waste within the permitted discharge height and hose arrangement.
- Floor: The machine requires a stable, level and suitably load-bearing floor.
- Access: Allow sufficient room for installation, hose routing, maintenance and full door opening.
A typical Cottons 60°C programme takes approximately 54 minutes on the 400v cold-fill model and 57 minutes on the 230v cold-fill model. Programme duration varies with the selected programme, load, incoming-water temperature and optional settings.
Connecting both hot and cold water can improve programme efficiency where a suitable hot-water supply is available. The machine can also be assessed for cold-only installation, although programme times and electrical consumption may increase.
Replacing an older model
The PWM 511 may be considered when replacing an older Miele Professional washer in a similar capacity range, including some installations currently using a PW 5105.
It should not be treated as an automatic like-for-like replacement. The following details must be checked before ordering:
- Machine dimensions and access route
- Floor loading and plinth arrangement
- Electrical voltage, phase and protective rating
- Hot and cold water connections
- Drain type, height and position
- External detergent dosing connections
- Required programmes and operator controls
It is particularly important to establish whether the existing machine uses a drain pump or a low-level gravity drain valve. Where the current washer discharges through a large low-level waste, the PWM 511 drain-valve model may be the correct replacement.
Compliance, hygiene and environment
The PWM 511 can support controlled laundry and hygiene processes through programmable wash parameters, monitored temperatures and suitable wash programmes.
The machine alone does not guarantee a particular hygiene outcome. The complete process must include appropriate programme selection, detergent dosage, validation, staff training, textile segregation and safe handling after washing.
Operational considerations include:
- Programme validation: Confirm that the selected process meets the organisation’s own hygiene requirements.
- Chemical dosing: Set detergent dosage according to water conditions, textile type and soil level.
- Drain selection: Do not specify the drain pump model as a sluice or mop washer simply because disinfection programmes are available.
- Clean and dirty separation: Manage the movement and storage of laundry to reduce the risk of recontamination.
- Network security: Connect network-enabled machines only to a suitably managed and secured network.
- Working environment: Provide suitable lighting, ventilation, access and safe working space around the washer.
a&f can assess the laundry type, capacity, electrical supply, water services and drainage arrangement before the machine is specified.
