Applying AirWallet in real environments

Payment systems should not be bolted on as an afterthought. The right setup depends on the users, the laundry room layout, the machines, connectivity and how the site is managed.

Mobile app payments

Users can download the AirWallet app and pay directly from their mobile phone, connecting to the machine via Bluetooth.

This approach removes the need for physical cash handling, makes pricing clear and reduces the reliance on coin or token hardware. It works particularly well where users are regular and familiar with the laundry, such as housing associations, student accommodation and long-stay residential sites.

Contactless payment options

Where app-based payment is not suitable for all users, AirWallet can also provide a contactless payment point for multiple machines.

This allows users to pay by contactless debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. It is especially useful in student accommodation, housing associations, caravan parks, marinas and other laundry rooms with a higher volume of different users.

Retrofitting existing laundry equipment

AirWallet can be retrofitted to many commercial laundry machines, including sites that previously used coin boxes, token systems or legacy contactless payment units.

This allows existing laundries to modernise payment without replacing otherwise serviceable machines. Before recommending a setup, we assess machine compatibility, wiring, layout and user flow.

AirWallet is well suited to environments where laundry is shared, paid-for and expected to be easy to use.

There may be situations where a simpler token system, coin box or alternative contactless system is more appropriate. This can include very low-use sites, environments with limited digital access, or settings where a site manager already controls access and payment.
