Machine Repairs
Fast, professional support when something goes wrong
When a laundry or dishwashing machine fails in a live environment, the impact is immediate. Routines break down, staff are under pressure and, in care, healthcare and communal settings, the consequences reach far beyond inconvenience. At a&f, repairs are about restoring stability to an operation that people depend on.

When something has failed
Repair support focused on restoring stability, not just clearing a fault
When a commercial laundry or dishwashing machine stops working, the quickest route back to normal operation is to log the job with the right information first time. That helps us understand the fault, prepare the engineer effectively and bring the right parts and tools where possible.
Structured fault information
Using the repair form helps us capture the site details, machine type, fault description, error code and photos where helpful, so the job can be prepared properly from the start.
Support for live environments
We understand that breakdowns in care, healthcare, communal and commercial settings affect routines, staff workload, hygiene and service continuity.
Looking beyond the fault code
A good repair looks at what caused the issue, whether something else may follow and whether the machine is still right for the way the site is being used.
Clear next steps
Sometimes the right answer is a repair. Sometimes it is servicing, a service contract, rental equipment, replacement planning or a wider review of the operation.

Telephone Triage Service
The fastest fix can be a phone call
When a machine goes down, waiting for an engineer is not always the quickest route back to normal. Report the fault and one of our technical specialists can call you back within three working hours to talk it through with whoever is nearest the machine.
Some faults we can clear on the call. For the rest, we learn enough to arrive knowing what we are dealing with and carrying the right parts, so the job is finished on the first visit.
Talk it through first
A few minutes with an a&f technical specialist can save a wasted visit, a second call-out and a day of downtime.
Technical support over the phone
Speak to someone who knows the machines. Straightforward technical advice is free, and where a machine has failed we can arrange a triage call. Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Before an engineer travels, one of our technical specialists calls you and talks the fault through with whoever is at the machine. It takes a few minutes and it changes what happens next.
Some faults are cleared on the call and you are running again the same day. Where they are not, everything we learn is passed to the attending engineer so the repair can be completed in one visit rather than two or three.
Within three working hours of your triage call being confirmed, and often much sooner. Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Someone who knows the machine and can be standing in front of it during the call. If you have the machine asset number from the a&f sticker, that helps us pull up the exact machine and everything we have done on it before.
Any fault codes or error messages on the display are useful too, along with what the machine was doing when the fault appeared.
Intermittent faults are where triage helps most. A machine that misbehaves on Tuesday will often run perfectly when the engineer arrives on Thursday, which means a wasted visit for you and no answer.
On the call we agree what to watch for and note down before the visit, so the engineer arrives with real information rather than a machine on its best behaviour.
Yes. If you hold an a&f service contract, are on premium care, or your machine is still within its manufacturer's warranty, telephone triage is included at no charge.
Just ask for it when you report the fault, or mention it when we call to arrange your engineer. If you are not covered yet, you can see what is included on our service contracts page.
A triage call is £50 plus VAT, and it is only charged if we resolve the fault over the phone. No fix, no fee.
If an engineer still needs to attend, the call costs you nothing, and anything already invoiced comes off the final bill. When we do fix it on the phone, you have saved a call-out charge, the labour and the wait.
We will always confirm the fee by email and get your agreement before the call takes place, so there are never any surprises.
No. Your engineer is booked exactly as normal and the triage call runs alongside it.
The only time a booked visit moves is if the call shows we need a part we do not carry. We will tell you, and the choice is yours: we can attend as booked, or hold the visit until the part arrives so the repair is completed in one go.
If we resolve the fault, we stand the engineer visit down with your agreement and you carry on. If we do not, our specialist's findings and the likely parts go onto the job, so your engineer arrives briefed rather than starting from scratch.
If the same fault returns within seven days of a resolved call, the £50 is deducted from the invoice for the engineer visit that follows.
Where a machine is giving repeated trouble, planned annual servicing and inspections is usually the better answer than another repair.
Service terms and conditions
Our telephone triage terms sit alongside our standard service, callout and repairs terms. Both are available to download and are sent with your confirmation email before any chargeable call.
Machine down? Let us talk it through first.
Report the fault and ask for a triage call. Your engineer is booked exactly as normal, and we will be in touch within three working hours.

Laundry & Dishwashing Operations Success
The right brand depends on the operation, not the other way round
At a&f, we work with carefully selected manufacturers whose equipment performs reliably in real-world environments over the long term. The aim is not to force every site towards one product range. It is to understand the laundry or dishwashing operation, then specify the equipment that best supports it.
Sometimes that means Miele Professional. Sometimes Electrolux Professional is the better laundry fit. For dishwashing, the right answer may be Miele Professional or Classeq. Our role is to make that choice clearly, practically and with long-term support in mind.
Selected for performance, serviceability and fit
We choose brand partners based on how their equipment performs in daily use, how well it can be supported, and how effectively it contributes to a stable operation.
What this means for customers
- A recommendation based on workload, site conditions, users and long-term support needs
- Access to proven laundry and dishwashing manufacturers without being tied to one answer
- Equipment selected to help the whole operation run more reliably, not just to fill a space
Miele Professional
Our principal product partner for many laundry and dishwashing applications where reliability, engineering integrity, consistent results and long working life are central to the operation.
Electrolux Professional
A valuable laundry partner where flexibility, capacity range, layout constraints, drying configuration or ironing and finishing requirements make it the best fit for the site.
Classeq dishwashers
A robust and straightforward dishwashing option for environments where dependable daily use, simple operation, serviceability and hygiene support are the priorities.
Why repairs matter
Breakdowns need urgency, but the response still needs structure
Commercial laundry and dishwashing equipment often fails at the worst possible moment. The right repair response should restore performance, reduce disruption and help you understand whether the problem is isolated or part of a wider pattern.

Machine Repairs FAQs
Questions about commercial laundry and dishwashing repairs
These are the practical questions customers often ask when equipment has failed, performance has dropped or repeated faults are starting to affect daily operations.
The right next step depends on the machine, the fault, the site, parts availability and whether the issue is isolated or part of a wider pattern.
Restoring reliability
A good repair should restore safe, reliable operation and help you understand the most practical next step.
Yes. We support commercial laundry and professional dishwashing equipment.
The fastest route is to use the Book a Repair form, so we can capture the right information and prepare the job effectively.
In many cases, yes. This depends on the brand, machine type, parts availability, site access and the nature of the fault.
Our engineers carry a wide range of commonly used spares, which allows many faults to be resolved on the first visit. Some repairs may require specific parts to be ordered.
Please provide the site details, machine type, model if known, asset number if available, fault description, error code and photos where helpful.
Our focus is commercial and professional equipment. In some specialist environments, domestic-style machines may not be suitable for the application.
We will explain the position clearly and advise on the most practical next step, which may include repair, servicing, rental, replacement or a wider review.
Yes. Repeated faults often point to a wider issue, such as usage, maintenance, ventilation, drainage, machine age or suitability.
