Product Overview
The Classeq C500WS is a 500 x 500mm basket commercial undercounter dishwasher and glasswasher with an integrated water softener, built for busy kitchens, bars, cafés, staff rooms and hospitality sites that need simple operation and reliable daily dishwashing.
It can be commissioned on installation as either a glasswasher or dishwasher. As a dishwasher it can hold up to 18 plates per rack, and as a glasswasher it can hold up to 25 pint glasses per rack, helping staff keep crockery and glassware moving during service.
This C500WS page is for the model with an internal water softener. It is a practical choice where softened water is required but space or services make an external automatic softener less suitable. For higher-use sites where space allows, the standard C500 with an external automatic softener may still be worth comparing.

For the C500WS, water quality and salt management are especially important. We can assess your site, confirm whether the integrated-softener model is the best option, or advise whether a standard C500 with an external automatic softener would be a better long-term solution.

Features and buyer benefits
A practical overview of the Classeq C500WS features that matter in daily use, including throughput, integrated water softening, simple operation, hygiene support, cleaning access and connected machine management.
500 x 500mm basket
Useful capacity in an undercounter footprint
The C500WS takes a 500 x 500mm basket, giving busy kitchens, bars and staff areas a practical machine size without moving up to a pass-through dishwasher.
Built-in softener
Integrated water softener for hard water areas
The WS model includes an internal water softener, helping protect wash quality and reduce limescale risk where the site needs softened water but an external softener is not practical.
Low salt alarm
Audible reminder supports the user routine
The integrated softener includes a low salt audible alarm, helping staff identify when the softener needs attention.
Plate throughput
Up to 18 plates per rack
When commissioned as a dishwasher, the C500WS can wash up to 18 dinner plates per rack, with a theoretical maximum of 540 plates per hour.
Glass throughput
Up to 25 pint glasses per rack
When set up as a glasswasher, the same machine can wash up to 25 pint-sized glasses per rack, giving flexibility for pubs, cafés and mixed-use sites.
Flexible setup
Commissioned as a dishwasher or glasswasher
The C500WS platform can be configured during installation around the site’s main use, helping avoid the wrong machine choice for mixed crockery and glassware needs.
Short cycle options
Glass and dish programmes for busy service periods
Glass programmes are listed as 1.5 and 2 minutes, with dish programmes listed as 2, 3 and 5 minutes, depending on programme choice and setup.
High-temperature rinse
Supports hygienic dishwashing results
The C500WS uses a high-temperature final rinse, with dish rinse temperature listed at 82°C. It supports hygienic results, but should not be described as a medical disinfection machine.
Simple controls
Colour-coded display for staff confidence
Clear colour-coded operation helps staff understand machine status, select programmes and respond to notifications with less training.
Easy daily cleaning
Click-in wash arms and double filtration
Click-in, click-out wash arms, double filtration and moulded basket rails make routine cleaning simpler, helping staff look after the machine correctly.
Built-in dosing
Detergent and rinse aid pumps fitted
Integrated detergent and rinse aid pumps support consistent chemical dosing, helping maintain wash quality when chemicals are set up correctly.
Connected management
Clean Connect and Bluetooth app support
Compatible UK machines manufactured after 1 February 2026 can use Clean Connect, with Bluetooth app access for user guides, settings, performance data and service information.

Choosing the right dishwasher
Is the Classeq C500WS the right model for me?
The Classeq C500WS is a strong fit for sites that need a simple, robust undercounter dishwasher or glasswasher with a 500 x 500mm basket and an integrated water softener.
It is best suited where softened water is required but an external automatic softener is not practical because of space, services or site layout. The internal softener still needs routine salt checking, topping up and regeneration as part of the user process.
When is this machine a good fit?
The C500WS is a good choice where the site needs a compact commercial dishwasher with a standard 500 x 500mm basket, simple staff operation and built-in water softening.
- Suitable for cafés, bars, pubs, staff kitchens, churches, village halls, small restaurants and hospitality sites.
- Useful where a standard C500 would need softened water, but there is limited space for an external softener.
- Works well where an undercounter machine is preferred over a pass-through dishwasher.
- Suitable where a 500 x 500mm basket and up to 18 plates per rack are enough for the workload.
- Useful for sites that want simple controls, built-in chemical dosing and straightforward cleaning access.
What should I check before choosing the C500WS?
Before choosing the C500WS, the key checks are water hardness, salt-management routine, power supply, drainage, available space, incoming water services and whether the throughput is enough for peak service periods.
- Confirm whether the site is in a medium or hard water area.
- Check that staff can reliably top up salt and respond to the low salt alarm.
- Confirm the available electrical supply, 230v 13A, 230v 32A or 400v 13A.
- Check that drainage can be arranged within the manufacturer’s maximum drain height.
- Confirm whether the machine will be commissioned mainly for glasses, dishes or a mixed routine.
Where space and services allow, an external automatic softener may still be preferred for higher-use sites because it can usually go longer between salt top-ups. Where space is limited, the C500WS integrated-softener model is often the more practical solution.
When might another model be better?
The C500WS is a capable integrated-softener undercounter machine, but it will not be the best choice for every site. A different model or water-treatment setup may be better where wash volume, item size, water hardness or staff routine requires it.
- Choose the standard C500 with an external automatic softener if higher usage makes external water treatment more practical.
- Consider the C400WS if space is tight and a smaller 400 x 400mm basket is sufficient.
- Consider a pass-through dishwasher if peak wash volume is too high for an undercounter machine.
- Consider the C500 Utensil if gastronorm trays, chopping boards or larger kitchen items are a regular requirement.
- Review the machine choice if the site needs a validated medical thermal disinfection process, because the C500WS should be presented as high-temperature rinse support, not a medical disinfection machine.
Services, water treatment and cycle times
The C500WS is available with three power options. The 13A plug-in version is useful where a simpler electrical connection is needed, while the higher-powered versions may be more appropriate where faster heat recovery is important.
- Power options: 230v 13A plug-in, 230v 32A single phase or 400v 13A three phase.
- Water pressure requirement: 1-10 bar.
- Incoming water temperature range: 4°C-55°C.
- Drain size: 40mm diameter, with maximum drain height of 600mm from the machine base.
- Glass cycles are listed as 1.5 and 2 minutes; dish cycles are listed as 2, 3 and 5 minutes.
Cycle performance in real use depends on programme choice, loading, incoming water temperature, water pressure and the machine’s services. The integrated softener also needs correct setup, salt management and regeneration to support consistent results.
Replacing an older model?
The Classeq C500WS is the current 500 x 500mm undercounter platform with an integrated water softener. It may be relevant when replacing older Classeq 500mm integral-softener undercounter models.
For integrated-softener replacements, the most useful previous model references are D500 DUO WS and D500DUOWS. If the older machine was a non-softener model, such as D500, D500P, D500 DUO or D500DUO, the closer current equivalent is normally the standard C500, unless the site now needs an integrated softener.
When replacing an older Classeq machine, check the existing basket size, electrical supply, water treatment, drain arrangement and available opening. Classeq notes that the external dimensions of the new models differ from older models, so the site should be measured before ordering.
Previous model search terms for this product include D500 DUO WS and D500DUOWS. If replacing D500, D500P, D500 DUO or D500DUO, consider the standard C500, or review whether the C500WS is now better because integrated water softening is required.
Compliance, hygiene and environment
The C500WS supports hygienic commercial dishwashing through correct temperature, detergent, rinse aid, water quality and staff routine. It should not be described as a medical disinfection machine.
- The dish rinse temperature is listed at 82°C.
- The machine incorporates a Type AB WRAS Approved air gap.
- The integrated softener helps manage limescale risk where salt is maintained correctly.
- Built-in hygiene and service reminders help staff maintain good operating routines.
- a&f can advise on water treatment, chemical setup, daily cleaning and ongoing service support.
