Choosing the right machine
Is the Electrolux Professional IB62314 Commercial Rotary Iron the right model for me?
The IB62314 is designed for sites that need to professionally finish flat linen using a compact, front-return rotary iron.
Its 1,400 mm working width sits between the 1,000 mm IB62310 and the larger 1,650 mm IB62316.
What should I check before purchasing this machine?
Check that the machine’s working width, electrical demand and expected output suit your linen sizes and daily workload.
Before purchasing this machine, it is worth checking:
- Linen size: the maximum useful working width is 1,400 mm.
- Laundry preparation: linen must be washed, suitably dried and labelled as machine-ironable.
- Available power: choose the correct 400v three-phase or 230v single-phase configuration.
- Output requirement: maximum evaporation capacity is based on controlled test conditions and full roller use.
- Space and access: allow for the machine, operator position, linen handling and servicing access.
- Required options: decide whether variable speed control or the Superior package is needed.
Services, drainage and cycle times
The IB62314 is electrically heated. UK configurations include 400v three-phase versions rated at 7.5 kW and 16A, plus a 230v single-phase version rated at 7.5 kW and 32A.
The machine uses a continuous ironing process rather than fixed programmes. Output depends on linen size, residual moisture, fabric, temperature, ironing speed and how fully the cylinder width is used.
- Electrical connection: arrange the exact supply and connection method for the selected PNC.
- Evacuation: the IB62314 has a 40 mm exhaust outlet for its evacuation system.
- Standard speed: the fixed-speed model operates at 3.4 m/min.
- Variable speed: the optional variator provides adjustment from 1 to 4 m/min.
- Water and drainage: the machine does not require a water supply or wastewater drain.
Replacing an older model?
The IB62314 may suit replacement of another compact bed-type or return-feed rotary iron where a working width of approximately 1.4 metres is required.
Before selecting it as a replacement, compare:
- Working width: confirm that 1,400 mm accommodates the site’s largest regular linen.
- Machine dimensions: check the footprint, delivery route and operator working space.
- Electrical supply: confirm the existing circuit suits the selected voltage, phase and current.
- Vent connection: check the route and arrangement for the 40 mm exhaust outlet.
- Output: compare residual moisture, ironing speed and current production requirements.
The smaller IB62310 may be more suitable where space and linen width are limited. The larger IB62316 provides a 1,650 mm working width for wider flatwork.
Compliance, hygiene and environment
The ironer must be installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Operators should receive training and check the finger protection device before use.
Hygienic linen processing depends on the complete laundry process, including washing, handling, drying, ironing, storage and segregation. The ironer alone does not guarantee a particular hygiene outcome.
- Suitable textiles: process only washed, suitably dried and machine-ironable items.
- Heat-sensitive items: synthetic, printed or coated materials may melt or adhere to the machine.
- Operator safety: never use the ironer if the finger guard is not functioning correctly.
- Daily care: check the finger guard and keep the working surfaces clean.
- Planned maintenance: cylinder coverings, thermostats and electrical components require periodic inspection.
