Choosing the right machine

Is the Electrolux Professional IB62316 Commercial Rotary Iron the right model for me?

The IB62316 is designed for sites that need to finish larger items of pre-dried, machine-ironable flatwork using a compact return-feed machine.

Its 1600 mm nominal working width makes it the largest of the three IB623 models. The available space, linen dimensions, residual moisture and required throughput should all be checked before ordering.

What should I check before purchasing this machine?

This model is a good choice where a 1600 mm working width is required and a front return-feed arrangement suits the planned laundry layout.

Before purchasing this machine, it is worth checking:

  • Linen dimensions: confirm that a 1600 mm nominal working width suits the largest items being processed.
  • Laundry volume: compare the required throughput with the published ironing speed and evaporation capacity.
  • Residual moisture: linen must be washed, suitably pre-dried and approved for machine ironing.
  • Available space: allow for the machine, the operator, linen handling and service access.
  • Electrical supply: confirm that the site can provide the required 400v three-phase supply.

Services, drainage and cycle times

The UK specification requires a suitable 400v three-phase electrical supply. The machine has an 8.7 kW total connected load and requires protection appropriate to the selected electrical configuration.

Output is affected by the fabric, item thickness, linen preparation, residual moisture, selected temperature, operator technique and roller utilisation.

  • Electrical connection: installation must be completed by suitably qualified personnel.
  • Exhaust: the IB62316 has a 40 mm outlet, although external ducting is not required for every normal installation.
  • Standard ironing speed: 3.4 m/min at 50 Hz.
  • Optional speed control: provides an adjustable range from 1 to 4 m/min.
  • Water evaporation: the 8.1 litres/hour figure is based on 20% residual moisture and full roller utilisation.
Replacing an older model?

The IB62316 may suit replacement of another compact return-feed or bed-type ironer where the working width, output and electrical requirements are comparable.

Before replacing an existing ironer, compare:

  • Working width: check both the nominal 1600 mm width and the linen normally processed.
  • Overall dimensions: confirm access for a machine measuring 2045 × 510 × 1025 mm.
  • Electrical services: verify voltage, phases, connected load and protective rating.
  • Workflow: confirm that front return feed suits the room and operator arrangement.
  • Ventilation: assess heat, moisture and any need for connection to an external exhaust route.

The precise site services, access route and installation clearances should be checked before the existing machine is removed.

Compliance, hygiene and environment

The ironer must be used only for previously washed, suitably pre-dried textiles that are approved for machine ironing. Operators should be trained in safe feeding, temperature selection and emergency procedures.

Good laundry hygiene depends on the complete process, including washing, handling, segregation, drying, ironing, storage and staff procedures. The ironer alone does not guarantee a validated hygiene outcome.

  • Operator safety: keep the finger guard functional and never bypass safety devices.
  • Textile suitability: follow the textile manufacturer’s care and ironing instructions.
  • Ventilation: provide a sufficiently ventilated working area and manage heat and moisture appropriately.
  • Maintenance: arrange routine inspection and servicing by competent personnel.
  • End of life: dispose of the machine through an appropriate recycling facility.
