Product Overview
The Miele HM16-80 D [EL] is a compact professional rotary ironer with an 830mm working width, electric heating and an integrated steam function, designed for smaller sites that need a better linen finish than hand ironing can realistically provide.
It is suitable for processing flatwork such as table linen, bed linen, tea towels, napkins and other regularly handled textiles. Miele gives a maximum ironing performance of up to 13kg per hour at 20% residual moisture, with real output depending on laundry type, preparation, operator experience and the required finish.
This model is well suited to care homes, hotels, guest accommodation, private residences, campsites, smaller commercial laundries and marine or offshore environments where space, ease of use and presentation quality all matter.

Uniform pressure across the roller
The rotary ironing process gives a more consistent result than hand ironing, helping improve presentation and reduce manual labour.

Easy to store when not in use
The fold-away design helps sites keep the laundry area usable and tidy, especially where the ironer is not in constant use.
Finger guard
Built-in operator protection
The automatic finger guard helps protect users by reacting if fingers come too close to the roller during operation.

Choosing the right machine
Is the Miele HM16-80 D [EL] the right model for me?
The Miele HM16-80 D [EL] is a compact rotary ironer for sites that need a consistent, professional finish on smaller flatwork without moving to a larger production ironer.
It is particularly useful where space is limited, where staff need a comfortable seated ironing position, or where a fold-away design is helpful between ironing sessions.
When is this rotary ironer a good fit?
This model is a good fit where regular linen finishing is needed, but the site does not need the capacity or footprint of a larger commercial flatwork ironer.
- Suitable for smaller flatwork items such as napkins, table linen, pillowcases, tea towels and similar textiles.
- Useful for care homes, hotels, guest accommodation, private residences, campsites and smaller commercial laundries.
- Good where operators need to iron comfortably while seated.
- Helpful where the laundry area needs a machine that can fold away when not in use.
- Suitable where a 230v, 13A electrical supply is preferred.
What should I check before choosing this model?
The main checks are the type of linen being processed, the expected daily workload, the available space and the staff routine.
- Check that the 830mm working width is suitable for the items you want to finish.
- Confirm that the site has enough space for safe use, access, storage and operator movement.
- Consider whether staff will be trained to feed items consistently and safely.
- Check that laundry is prepared at a suitable residual moisture level for ironing.
- Confirm that the site has the correct electrical supply and socket arrangement.
When might another model be better?
A larger rotary ironer may be more suitable where the site processes larger volumes of flatwork, larger linen items or has a more production-led laundry process.
- Consider a wider ironer if sheets, duvet covers or larger table linen need to be processed regularly.
- Consider a higher-throughput model if the site has heavy daily linen volumes.
- Consider a larger PRI model if laundry finishing is a central operational task rather than occasional or light daily use.
- Consider the wider laundry flow if washers and dryers are producing more work than this ironer can comfortably process.
Services, utilities and installation checks
The HM16-80 D [EL] is electrically heated and designed for a 230v, 13A supply. Its front feed and return arrangement means it can be positioned against a wall where the site layout allows safe use and servicing.
- Power Required: 230v, 13A.
- Total connected load: 2.70-3.20 kW.
- Working width: 830 mm.
- Roller diameter: 160 mm.
- Net weight: 39 kg.
- External dimensions: 959(h) x 985(w) x 380(d) mm.
Replacing an older model?
If this machine is replacing an older Miele rotary ironer, the key checks are working width, power supply, operator position, available space and the type of laundry being processed.
The HM16-80 may be relevant when replacing or searching for older Miele models including B895 and B866.
Older model search terms: B895, B866.
Compliance, safety and operating environment
This is a linen finishing machine, not a washer, dryer or hygiene disinfection process. It should be selected as part of the wider laundry operation, especially in care, healthcare or other hygiene-sensitive environments.
- The datasheet lists CE, UKCA, VDE, VDE-EMC, WEEE and compliance with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
- The automatic finger guard helps support operator safety during use.
- Staff should be trained in safe feeding, temperature selection and suitable textile handling.
- For hygiene-sensitive sites, a&f can review the full laundry process, including washing, drying, handling and finishing.
